Baked chicken melts in your mouth. Sweet potatoes were delicious and not overly sweet. Cornbread was different than I have had before but very good.

This is real soul food!! If you're looking for real authentic soul food, this is your place!! Everything tasted homemade down to the gravy !! The seasoning was just right! The ribs FALL off the bone!! The smothered chicken w/ gray was juicy and tasted just like my grandmother from the south use to make it!! Also, they give you a lot of food for the price! My significant other & I got two personal meals & we still have food left over! This food gave me that feeling of being a child eating a good home cooked meal again that I so very miss & from here on out, I will make this place my number 1 stop for soul food in the city. Very nice soul food restaurant! First of all the food was very good but it's hit or miss. The manhattan beef and ribs were okay. BUT the smothered chicken was AMAZING. What makes it even better is that you can "refill" on your entrees/meats. The side which you can also refill were very good! All of them tasted like they were made with loved. The cord bread is a must as well. It is sooo good. The service was okay. Nothing spectacular but its not bad. And BEWARE this restaurant is CASH ONLY so make sure to bring cash to pay for your food!

For the past 3 to 4 years, we ALWAYS stop here when we visit family in Indiana. We usually plan who will order what meal and what vegetables will be ordered before we hit the door. We arrived on a Thursday around 4pm. They weren't and Unfortunately we will not return here again. Everything we ordered was awful.Fried chicken was overcooked. The meat loaf was burnt. The fish was not crispy.And we weren't the only group that had problems with their orders. My family was very disappointed with the quality of the food and we will not return.

How is it that I'm just finding out about this place!?!? EVERYTHING was good!!! Chicken crispy, Juicy Meatloaf, plenty of sides and it just kept coming... They give free refills on everything, including the Freshly Fried Chicken and the sides and the beverages. Lord it was GOOD!!! They are the best soul food place in Indy... PERIOD!!!

Went here for my birthday and received amazing service! The family style dining is interesting, you pick your own meat and as a table, you choose sides to share. The food is absolutely amazing! Heads up, it is cash only, so hit the ATM on the way!

Food is perfect. Got sick off sweet potatoes cause they wasn't done . But it was so good I had to eat them anyway. Other than that I'm n there every week

Vegetables were canned. Prefer fresh veggies. Chicken was dry. Chopped steak was good. Cornbread & sweet potatoes were good. Lovely ladies work there. Cash only!

Food is great! They need to add card payments tho. There's a sign on the door that says "cash only". Service was good. Portions were shareable. Please read signs posted and signs in/on menu.

I will give the place a BIG star. Food was out of your mind and I am going back again, and also tell other people about MISSISSIPPI BELLE excellent. Hey I give you all five stars.

Soul food served family style. Great food and plenty of it. The staff was awesome and prices are reasonable. I can vouch for the fried fish, ribs, and pork chops. All were excellent and the hot water corn bread is amazing. Can't wait to go back for the liver and onions.

CASH ONLY!! Stunning food, family style dining, family owned, low key, out waitress was friendly but the other staff was not friendly. Please tip waiter at least 20%, they dish out the food, serve the food, and clean the table.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The meatloaf and the fried chicken and pork chops are the best.

The food is ok. I was a bit tuned off. They only take cash. I did not have cash on me. So the owner told me to go get some cash. He asked for me to leave my ID AND my family at the restaurant and come back. I have never been back since. And probably want visit again.

The setting was quick. The server was personable and timely. The food was far below standard. The pork chops and ribs tasted as though they were parboiled. No taste at all. The Mac and cheese were just above a box and the dressing was bland but the gravy was good. I will take a long break and hope a change comes before I go back. Too much money for mediocre when so many more soul food resturants are much less. They have yet to come into the 21st century and accept plastic payment. No one carries cash so you have to leave and find a ATM before you come in because NO one, unless you come often remembers. A lot for substandard food.

Food was good but building needs upgraded. Chairs and tables look very old bathroom needs updated. Show your customers you appreciate their business. This place looks like this for many years. Takes cash only.

We had the baked chicken and meatloaf. Both perfect. For sides, we ordered greens, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and green beans. Bothe green beans and greens tasted like they have sugar added to then which i am not a fan of. The mac and cheese was a disappointment. it could be so much better if it was bakes with a layer of cheese on top. We attempted to order dessert the two times we visited and it was not available. overall we like it and will return

Pretty good. I had the pan fried chicken with mac and sweet potatoes. Comes with fried hot water corn bread which was bomb! Good price. CASH ONLY!

Some of the best food I've ever tasted! I got the slow roasted pork with mac & cheese, collard greens, candied yams and green beans and it was all SO DELICIOUS! Such generous portions it was enough for two (but I finished all myself!) The staff was also very friendly.

My wife and I went on a Sunday around 2:30pm. It was very busy and we waited about 15 minutes before being seated. It was well worth the wait! The smothered pork chops were the best I've had in a while. My wife had the fried chicken. Our sides were sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, dressing, mash potatoes and greens. Even though we went during the busiest time of the day our server had a positive attitude and was very attentive. We can't wait to go back!

It's shonuff Soul Food!! What more can I say? The Rubbed Ribs were seasoned to perfection!! My friend had fried Whitefish. OMG!! It was crispy outside and tender inside! The sides were Mac and cheese, fried cabbage, fried corn and sweet potatoes. We had hot water cornbread w/sliced tomatoes and onions. Everything was simply delicious!

Need to hurry and open back up!

Mississippi Belle is the best soul food restaurant in Indianapolis. They are always busy, but never fail to provide excellent service and get the incredibly delicious food out of the kitchen quickly. I really enjoy their all you can eat whole catfish on Friday nights. Everything in the menu is outstanding, and it's always difficult to decide what to order because it's all so good. Their sides are really nice too and included with your meal, along with fried cornbread, a hunk of onion and slices of tomato. I usually get a sweet potato side as a dessert. When you are doing soul food, their sweet tea is so refreshing and enjoyable. There is normally immediate seating even when they are their busiest, and they accept CASH ONLY.

Serving size is good, food was ok

"Disclaimer"...(BRING-YOUR- APPETITE) I was introduced to Mississippi Belle several years ago by a young (foodie) coworker. He convinced our small business employer to have a company dinner with our spouses there... we had a great time and could barely walk to our cars when we were done eating. (ITIS) All you can eat southern food...?!?!? Who's going to say NO to that?!?!?!?

I moved to Indiana in 1995.A friend took me here for dinner and it was delicious. I probably dine here at least once a month .The hot water corn bread is so tasty. Go ahead and give it a try you won't be disappointed and you'll walk out with a happy belly. ❤

Amazing food, great atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff. Their fried chicken is phenomenal, as is their catfish. Food is served family style with every person choosing their own meat and the group selecting four sides. The hot water corn bread was an unexpected treat, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside with a touch of sweetness throughout. The food here is definitely the main attraction, and our entire party loved their dishes.

I don't think it's fair that every person has to purchase a meat if the meat that they send you is enough to feed another person otherwise it's a bunch of food going to waste. Secondly I feel as if whatever food is left over the waiter brings to the table after you have eaten should be able to go home with you. Is just too much food being wasted for money that you paid for

This is the best soul food in all of Indianapolis. Their tag line of "you must eat here" is absolutely no joke. This was my first time here with a friend and I know it will not be our last. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Please never change.

The food was pretty good. We had Turkey and gravy, fried chicken, meat loaf, roast beef, mac and cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes.

The first thing to know is that they only take cash. The second thing to know is that this is definitely a place you need to visit. Soul food is the order of the day, which ranges from fried fish, chicken, and the ribs that I ordered. I didn't finish the sides (Mac & cheese, collard greens) pictured, but that had to do with the generous portions. Price is definitely worth it, which is probably a function of them being cash only.

Food was 100% delicious & thought I was back at home with the soul food. Nothing taste better than some down south home cook food. It's worth every penny & dollar you spend. You get 4 lg size for the table & the rib meat is falling off the bone.

The meatloaf and fish is good the Mac and cheese was not so good but no worries there are plenty of other options like the fried cabbage which was tasty. The hot water cornbread is good also.

The food was good! But the service was awful! The waitress was very personal but slow with our serving our food! She was too busy playing with children! And other people! I won't be going back there again!

Best home cooked meals and service in Indiana. Will be going again 4/11/20 can hardly wait.

Fried Cornbread, Mac and cheese and yams were good. The greens and smothered chicken and gravy were flavorless. The chicken leg was really, really dark. I may have had a bad batch? Nevertheless, the place was getting crowded so.....

It was okay but the food was dry, needed more seasoning. The service was good though. Dont know if it was because i was there right at 11am, but ill give it another try
